Meet Jeff Fukasawa

Rooted in Gardena
Jeff Fukasawa is a second-generation Japanese American raised in Gardena, a city that has shaped his values, work ethic, and deep commitment to community. A proud product of Gardena’s public schools, Jeff attended Denker Elementary, Peary Junior High, and Gardena High School. He also grew up connected to Gardena’s strong cultural and community roots through the Gardena Buddhist Church and Japanese School.
Jeff continued his education at the University of California,
Santa Barbara, earning his Bachelor's degree, double-majoring in Business Economics and Accounting, as well as
Asian American Studies. That blend of practical financial training and community-centered perspective has guided his approach ever since: listen first, manage resources responsibly, and build for the long term.
A lifelong Gardena resident and small business owner, Jeff has spent years investing in the city not just through words, but through action. In 2010, he founded Commline Inc. in Gardena, creating local opportunity and building firsthand experience with budgets, operations, and the real-world impact of smart decision-making.
Jeff’s commitment to service started early.
As a kid, he stayed active in local youth programs, including Gardena Optimist Baseball, Gardena F.O.R. Basketball, and Gardena Aikido. As a Boy Scout, he earned the rank of First Class from 1989 to 1993, learning the values of leadership, responsibility,
and giving back.
Those same values continue today through his involvement with local civic and nonprofit organizations, including membership in the Gardena Elks Lodge since 2019 and the Gardena Foundation.
Now, Jeff is stepping forward to serve Gardena in an even bigger way, running for Gardena City Council with a clear focus on responsible use of city resources and smart growth that strengthens quality of life for every neighborhood.
